About Pretending People Theatre Company
Matt and Becca have many years’ experience working in the entertainment industry as actors, directors and musicians.
Pretending People Theatre's roots grew from Site Specific theatre, where they transformed venues such as Kensal Green Cemetery, a Town House in Northampton, Victoria Gardens in Kent and everywhere but the stage of the Central Theatre in Chatham, into an immersive theatrical performance space. Through word of mouth Pretending People continued to evolve. Professionals of various industries requested Becca and Matt's help in writing pieces of theatre to meet their needs. Since then Pretending People have created a Site Specific Module for Mid Kent College, council funded organizations have commissioned children’s drama and music workshops for their youth groups, historic writer Henry Vivian Neal requested a one act play to aid the launch of his book 'Their Exits' and also they create personal plays and performances for private functions. If you’re still not convinced Pretending People are the company for you... they also create plays in good old fashioned theatre spaces, collaborating with new writers producing and directing their scripts, with fresh and talented actors.
Matt and Becca have also worked closely over the years with various theatre companies who operate within the care sector in care homes and community venues. They discovered wavering standards of professional theatre from other companies, This insight was key to ensuring that a Pretending People touring production will always be of the same standard as a production in a theatre! They have since been greatly received at a number of care homes, retirement associations, village halls and other community venues. See the testimonials page.
As Pretending People Theatre's repertoire has expanded so has their reputation of meeting the client's specifications in creating high quality productions.
